About the event
Paper Mill Flats is one of the best places in Baltimore County to see migratory shorebirds, herons, waterfowl, and other early migrants. We'll start with a walk along the first 1/2 mile of the NCR trail to a spot known as Ashland Flats, also a good spot for shorebirds, before heading to Paper Mill Flats. After returning to the parking lot, participants have the option to leave or drive a short distance (1 mile) to the Paper Mill Flats trailhead. The trail is short and flat (1/2 mile total) but can be uneven and narrow, so pants are recommended. The trip leader will have a spotting scope, but if you have one it's worth bringing with you. Canceled in the event of bad weather, an email will be sent a day in advance if this is the case. Due to limited parking an RSVP required.
